Euphoria drew you close and barred the door He held your hand to ease the first ensnare You're waltzing empty skies and craving more Addiction reels you in to need his war So smoke drifts up towards God in place of prayer Euphoria drew you close and barred the door Dark circles past your eyes define his core The closest friends you've left still know they care You're waltzing empty skies and craving more A paper chain of faces to adore Go tripping through the moment like a dare Euphoria drew you close and barred the door Palms groping towards the ceiling meet the floor He built high walls and left you hollow there You're waltzing empty skies and craving more Inertia left us cracked on separate shores Divided lives with only words to share Euphoria drew you close and barred the door You're waltzing empty skies and craving more. Oh! This is great, and I will come back to read it more than once. It's a villanelle, isn't it? The form is captivating with the repetitions that still weave so well with each new line. The expression of reaching past the void and finding footwork and grasp here is very effective. Dancing is a lot like poetry... Beautiful write! Loved this! ~Karen |

Thank you kindly miss Indeed, it's a villanelle, done in ionic pentameter. |
