It was before dawn.
Silence filled the street,
the whole world
seemed to be asleep.
All on my own
I only captured
the tree friendsí soft welcome,
when suddenly
I stopped in my tracks
as someone from high above
gazed at me with impertinence
and had me gazing back
transfixed and mesmerized.

The full moon! Ohhh ...
Just for me, all this brilliance
and a giant halo too!

It didnít whisper to me, no!
It sang to me in its power voice,
was it tenor or soprano?
Der Mond, la luna ... androgynous ...
The enticing tune
rolled over my heart lawn,
while moon lips sipped
at my well of love
deep within.

Moon beams reached down
to lift me up to the satelliteís
privileged position,
a unique place
to experience gossamer dreams
while the sun gets ready
for its majestic dawn performance
and the moon puts on
its most dazzling dancing robe
to offer a spectacular finale
before leaving the scene.

It didnít whisper to me, no!
It sang to me in its power voice!

What a spectacular poem, Margherita.

ďIt didnít whisper to me, no!
It sang to me in its power voice!Ē

That it did!!  A delight to read.
Like the picture too.

Taking on the receding moon here and taking it on quite well. Love the inner depth of this poem which comes straight from your tender and blessed heart.

"someone from high above
gazed at me with impertinence
and had me gazing back..."

To personify the moon...only a poet can get away with that..:-)

And then you claim it for your own...like a lover crooning "you belong to me"

"The full moon! Ohhh ...
Just for me,"

"sang to me in its power voice!"

Lovely poetry......:-)

Margherita,

Darling poet, I whispered to the full moon and he said that he could gaze upon me and touch me with his song, but he was yours.  You know him like few do.

Love this.

Thank you, dear Ford, for your loving comment. I think I am in good company when I personify the moon ... a poet loves to do that. Think of St. Francis of Assisi who did that too in his divinely beautiful Canticle of Creatures ... Fratello Sole ... Sorella Luna ... fratello vento (Brother Sun ... Sister Moon ... Brother Wind. No I didn't claim it for my own, but being the only one around who was gazing back, I felt I was the only one to  be blessed by its beauty.

Usually I am asleep at that early hour, so it made a great impact on me.

Sweet Alison girl, thank you so much for your  tender words. The moon over your white Alaskian mountains must be an even more mesmerizing spectacle! He is always ours, yours and mine and everybody's moon, but our emotions are certainly deeply personal events. Nature in all its manifestations of beauty is free for all of us to "own".

Love,
Margherita

I saw the moon the other evening and thought of you.  I didn't have my camera or I would have sent you a picture, but I'll get the shot one day soon.  The moon was hanging low on the horizon .. shining through the ice fog.  It looked so beautiful.  Like your poem is so beautiful.

Hello, Margherita

Such a lovely, moon-struck write! Captivating, familiar...what is it in that silver light that mesmerizes so?   Whatever it is, you've caught it, here.

Hope you are well!

Amaryllis

If anyone every questions how the moon can be so perfectly captivating, all they would have to do is read this to see it in all it's glory.  And to think that we're all under the same moon.     Lovely, lovely

Ah, lovely Luna does sing for us... Especially when she's full.  She is a goddess I truly identify with, but that's probably just the Lycanthrope in me talking.  *Howl  enjoyed this.

Dear Ajit, it gives me such joy to think that you were going to connect with the Moon in Mumbai, with your yearning and appreciative heart and my humble words. I am so glad that you were given a clear sight of the moon spectacle! Thank you so very much for your loving comment. (so sad all that pollution!

Thank you, dear Helen, for enjoying the glimpse of the Moon together with me.

Dear Amaryllis, thank you so much dear Poetess from the North, for your loving comment. Yes "moon-struck" is the word! I am fine and hope the same of you ... I think you are ... after reading that you "shaped the sun" (... delightful!).

I enjoyed your loving comment very much, dear Ida. Thank you from my heart.

Dear Spiros, it's a pleasure to know you felt the moon's fascination through my words. Thank you for coming in!

Dear Jimmy, "mooned" ... that sounds lovely! Thank you so much for your loving, generous reply.

Yes, dear Nicole, she/he shows us always the same face wherever she follows us, there is magic in the Moon-Earth symbiosis for sure! Thank you so much for your most loving comment.

Dear Michael, thank you so much for your highly appreciated comment. Well see, the Lycanthrope in you made you "howl" ... unintentionally I think the two words "How I"  linked together and became a "howl"! Funny! La luna Ť magica!

Thank you all again.
Love,
Margherita
