RESCUE MISSION
17 June 2011

She was caught
between two circles
of razor-wire
above the spikes
on the wall,
the barbed wire
squashing her
on either side
of her neck.
She must have
been trapped
for goodness knows
how long,
speechless,
long-suffering
and suffering long.

I am to blame
that I hadn’t noticed
before.

I carefully pulled
the strong wires
apart
and with such
love and care
I gently pulled her head
through the gap
and with great relief
it seemed that
the only wound
was that one of her petals
was a little bent.
Her twenty sisters
I am sure
had tried to shout to me
about their sibling’s plight,
but as I sadly
don’t speak, hear
or understand
Aloe arborescens
I hadn’t heard.
I will be sure to
check on her every day
and make sure
that she is recuperating well.

It seems to me that not only do you understand perfectly "Aloe arborescens" language, but you do understand the Universal language of all forms of life, dear Owl.

And this poem is another example of the exquisite Owl-language.

Love,
Margherita

Margherita, what an exquisite thing to say!  You brought tears to my eyes.  It is so very special and important to me that I will remember what you said with joy, warmth, and reassurance (especially when it seems otherwise) “until the stars fall as rain and the sun and the moon change places”.

Thank you, my dear friend, Margherita.

Love and hugs

Good for you to rescue a soul in distress.

Very gentle soul shines through this write. Wish we all could understand their language. Fine writing.

Dear Diana...I'm sure you have already learned the language of this flower.

Jimmy, thank goodness it wasn’t my kitty cat – but I don’t like my flowers to be in distress either.

Ruth, you sweetie-pie.  Thank you for those kind and compassionate words that make even my toes smile!

Thank you, Jerry.  Anyone would have.  She looked so vulnerable.  I wish I had managed to prevent her distress in the first place.

Thank you, Prasad for your kind words.  Yes, wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could speak, and more important, hear and understand the language of flowers?  I am sure that my Aloe arborescens’ voices would sound like tinkling bells.

My dear friend Martie (more hugs for you and Needful because of the passing of Precious), I wish I had been able to.  If I had, I would have heard her faint voice and her sisters’ compelling voices calling me to help.

Thank you, Karilea, for such a lovely thought.

Ida, you say the loveliest things.  I love what you said.  Happy smiles and thank you.

Alison, thank you for the beautiful things you said of me.  I love my world and I feel very blessed that I notice the ants as well as the elephants.  Thank you especially for thinking that I am special.
