             Desiderium

It is late in the day
and late in the season
in this time of cascading sorrows,
when the frail moonlit shadows
dance the twilight breeze
with a thousand memories
  and imaginings
of all that ‘might have been,’
if only I could have touched
her lovely heart and soul
with magic-painted words
in but one perfect poem.
I shall remain instead forever,
just beyond the farthest edge
of love, and hope, and Spring.

              --- b. e. adams  (8/10/2011)

Pursuant to the advice of several fine folks here in "P.I.P.-land"
by the cyber-sea, and a few others elsewhere, I'm reconsidering
whether I shall leave this 'poetry board' and stop writing entirely.

This beautiful poem is a very good reason why you should keep writing. I hope you reconsider.

I think many of us are haunted by the same "if only"s... you wrote it beautifully.

Indeed a human condition that you have expressed so very well.  Many can relate.  Welcome back!  There seems to be an over-riding view that you should stay so ... stay - please.

Very beautiful and very sad, Bruce.  However, like everyone else, I am glad you didn't leave.
