~honoring the birth of my first-born grandson~

Swathed in hospital white I know you wonder
where did your warm wet cradle go.
My feelings are mixed as I watch you
in the bright warming light
looking through navy blue eyes
at the people and room around you.

I know you can't really see yet
but you're looking around nevertheless.
Curiosity, your first visible trait.
My heart is filled with so much love
but I fear for you, for it is not
a nice world you've come into.

Acuity washes over me
for there's something different
about you my dear one.
Perhaps infant child of my child
you will be one who makes a difference.
I say a prayer that I'll still be around to see it,
suddenly I want to live forever.

May God protect you from the lions too Daniel.

What a beautiful poem to your first grandchild, Marcia!  I am sure God will have Daniel befriend the big kitties - and protect him from their metaphorical counterparts.

Wonderfully delightful.
The magic of children never fails to amaze.

For Owl and Duck,
That baby boy is five years old now and a bundle of dynamite if there ever was one. Just as a little boy should be. Thank you for reading and your nice comments.
Namaste,
Marcia

We can only hope. The last line grabbed me. Yes.

Beautiful thoughts here and very touching, dear Marcia.

Daniel is here to help this world move forwards onto a higher level of consciousness, a child is never scared of life. May he be lovingly accompanied on his Life Path, so that he will be indeed able to make a difference. And may you live forever, yes!

Intense!

Love,
Margherita

Thank you dear heart. I adore that boy, his younger brothers as well.

I can relate to this, Marcia. I have three grandaughters and two great grandaughters. I love them all dearly but like you I am apprehensive about the world they have come into.
