Arise Joplin Upon The Phoenix 2011

It wrote May inside out into whispers of dawn
Sailing the night twilight into day light’s yawn.
Arise oh spirit upon the quill of the mourning
After the funeral pyre chill that flames morning.

Shadows compost the tears that flooded yesterday,
When Joplin’s tornadic twister ripped the heart away,
From the city’s soul and scattered upon a million pieces.
But human nature is resilient among the morrow’s peace.

Swath of time did slash open the fury weathering nature’s age
To again make humanity sense the fierce storm cast with rage.
When cities must forge stronger wombs from entombed pain,
Where skeletal frames dwell upon testament’s baptismal rain.

Oh Joplin, reign in the power in the miracle of De-Termination,
Where we bare the toil of sweat upon the soil’s germination.
That the American dream is Joplin’s iron will spirit of survival,
When hands pray in faith and find the cleansing of restored revival.

So arise Phoenix upon the flames of Joplin names upon these sentences,
Along with prayers from survivors and with those offering condolences.
That as paper flames spiral upon the heavens, they ask for repentance,
As they become ashes are buried inside seeds garden in remembrance.
That Guardians will protect that patch and much of Joplin in the future.
Behind that patch but a symbol of eternal hope, with St. John’s Hospital.
