a film of dust
has settled on my memories
making it difficult
if not impossible
to bring back
what I thought I remembered
a gray layer of soot
covers my eyes
making beautiful sunsets
ordinary
one day I took the memories
those I could find
into a secret place
there I stacked them
high as I could
I left them there
for when I came back
but . . .
it's hard to find the key
with eyes dimmed with life . . . but find them I do
and lock the door
hoping I can remember
how to get back
and where I hid the key

Jerry this is bittersweet beauty. I love it when you wax this way. Your images in this one are exceptional and I know EXACTLY the feeling you are expressing. Thank you for being here to share your talent with us. I fear if you didn't post so frequently some of us would start having withdrawl symptoms...wandering around in a daze muttering "Gotta love it"

i enjoyed the detail in every line. how you painted a picture so it was like watching instead of reading.
