As promised many years ago, at last the time has come,
for me to write my "masterpiece", complete, the total sum
of all that I have mastered in my quest to get things right.
A work to leave the toughest critics squealing with delight!

As literary genius simply flows from each pen stroke,
detractors turn to acolytes, critiques gone up in smoke.
The purity of my intent will shine through like the sun,
as effortlessly words align in granduer, one by one.

No need for any writers' tricks, duplicity aside.
Sincere and spoken from the heart, as conscience is my guide.
The gods most likely steered my hand in forming such great verse,
for which I shall be deified, such is the poets' curse,

bestowed on those deserving souls, those writers of our kind,
who recognize "perfection" is oft' but a state of mind.

Lori,
Thanks, that's most kind of you to say.
Doc

Sunshine,
Thanks, now if anyone has a spare "jaws of life " around here, I may need them to extricate my tongue from my cheek.

Rent them by the hour and you can pull your head out of....JUST KIDDING, DOC!!!!!

Yanno, I've written a couple of things that I was sure any critic would have an orgasm over, only to be met with indifference. Know what? I STILL think they are great which leads me to the point that, if you think your work is good and you're satisfied with it.....it is!

*chuckle*

I have noticed that what is deemed as "genius" is most often a simple confirmation of a statement that affirms what someone else was just about to say.

I can't do that in perfect rhyme and meter.

But you can.

A flash of brilliance, Doc--even if I do say so myself. *laughing*

and curtsy, to the Master.

Balladeer'
Way, way too funny, as it has a grain of truth. Laughing still m'friend.
Doc

serenity,
At times you and I think way too much alike(I don't think it's just me). I have often said of difficult people, make them think it was their idea, and you will usually get your way.

faithmairee,
Thank you, very high praise indeed, I toy with the words, and sometimes they are kind with me.
Doc

steavenr,
Thank you, sometimes I don't know why people bother with me as I'm somewhat of a self proclaimed outcast here. Actually, if you look me up as a "Passions' Poet" I don't even exist, the last time I checked.
I guess that would make me the "driven" nut
as opposed to the "drive" nut. Carpe diem!

Your outcast status is definitely self-proclaimed. I have it on good authority that you are admired by many here who appreciate the brilliance of your writing, not to mention your warpedness (if that's a word)

Balladeer,
Thank you most kindly, perhaps "recluse" would have been more appropriate than "outcast". As for "brilliance", as I said, I play with the words and sometimes they are kind to me. As for my status as a Passions Poet, somehow, back in 1999, I gained access to the forums, but was never listed, and as far as I know, am still somewhat of a ghost in the machine.
Doc

steavenr,
Thanks, lol, way back in the archives I did a piece on my family tree, I'll see if I can find it for you. Yup , it was called, The "Real" Origin of the Species, posted in the workshop on 1/14/2004, you may get a chuckle out of it.

Hey Doc! No doubt, you are most definitely a piece of the master. Come to think of it, I think you've got your own mainline to the source. You are quality... as for being an outcast (recluse)... I'd rather be out standing in my field than counted amongst the many.

I am basking in your "effortless words" and, because I like you so much, Doc - I don't even hate you.  Nope. I am not even envious.  Nope.  I don't even want to write like you.  Nope.  Okay, I'll admit that my "no's" are becoming more faint.

Love your writing - you make me smile and who can begrudge anyone that talent.

Alison,
Lol, thanks, this one was a long time coming, but judging from the replys, may have struck a chord with a few here.
