Memories
like soft, transparent butterflies
appear at times
out of nowhere.
Fluttering into my space
to stay for awhile
and remind me
of past events and emotions.

Moments of joy and sadness,
they come and go.
Just visiting...
invited or not.
A babies smile,
The words of an old song,
The first day of school,
A childhood fear,
The death of a loved one.

Where will they go
when I am not here?
These memories
so uniquely my own.
Once they were caterpillars
feeding on the leaves
of the tree of life.
Earthbound.
Now they are free to visit me
wherever I may be.

What a soothing poem, Ida, one which lets the spirit be as free as a butterfly.
There are several levels to this write, and I 'flew' with them tonight, smiling.

Now you have me wondering where those memories will go, when I'm not longer here.

A gentle write that has me wondering, too, where all the memories will go?  Too precious are they to be lost...

I enjoyed your poem very much.

My dear Ida Belle, rest assured sweet poetess, that when your time comes to return Home, many of your memories will live on through your memorable poetry.

I do so love the way you think and express yourself!

This was lovely.

Love & Butterfly Thoughts,
Linda

Dear Ida, how absolutely beautiful and touching. I think nothing is ever lost. I believe our soul is like a book where everything remains impressed, even if the memories just visit our mind sporadically. Once we leave this plane we shall have the full vision and those we leave behind will not forget you either.

I felt this deeply.

Love,
Margherita

Marchmadness, excellant view of the
human and beyond, perhaps the good memories
are eternal in the soul, the memories
that shape us gift us into tomorrow,
lovely thoughts,

Soft and tender words to enchant, I love the sentiments contained in this gorgeous poem. Such a great idea to compare memories with fluttering butterflies. I might borrow that one later if I may dear Marchmadness ?

Enjoyable read, Ida.  I'm wondering if all the events in my life not now consciously recalled will come back one day and what my reaction will be.  I hope they land like butterflies.
