I would always remember your mouth
and how it moved around words
that you were not saying loud enough

to get out of the window of you
and onto the windshield of me
but we were top down anyway

and somehow I got the drift
just before we pulled over
and talked with our eyes

while the others drove by fast
just to look in mirrors to see
how our story ended if it did

and as of tomorrow it hadn't yet

You remember ever so beautifully, dear D., may the story never end. Love your title too, it sounds reassuring.

So as they gazed into their rear view mirrors, they caught a glimpse of the next chapter?
