He met my eyes one day on the way to something new
and stared to maybe see if he could love their depths
but, lo behold, life stepped in like it always does
to stand guard and sentry over treasures of the deep.

So saddened then I turned and made to walk away
from one who couldn’t see beyond the pleasure feel
and ‘twas a walk of many years down paths of memory
stuck within the mind like sun in my blue sky.

And so of memories they sink and rise, sink and rise,
and sometimes purport to be the only thing I feel
when life dishes up the same old routine
on a plate waiting for that something new he saw.

He saw it there, you see, waiting to be his need
and if you see it too it’s like you’re not awake
when the sun rises up and eyes speak of love
from that treasure chest of a woman’s soul.

Still and all it’s like he knew he ne’er would be aware
so off he ran down the street in a hurry to be free
because he never knew souls have feelings too
and experience the loss more heartbreakingly.

Treasures of the deep; how well they are preserved
through the machinations of life’s most deadly wiles!

Thanks RA!  I guess I am lucky then but it sure doesn't feel like it.  Then again sometimes it does which just goes to prove that life dishes up a mixed bag of stuff and we are forced to sift through it.

Dear Helen, this is once again a wonderful panorama of your heart and soul.
Not all have the sensitivity to go deep, because in the beauty of depth some fear to get lost.

So nice to have you back here today!

Love and hugs.

Thanks dear Margherita.  I didn't know I would get lost but it's like I am now and there is no way out ... unless I think there is.  I'm therefore thinking and thinking to be as I was before getting lost.

Martie - So nice to see you here too and thank you for your comment.  I don't know about being profound but from the heart most decidedly.

Love
Helen

This is so lovely, Helen.  It shows so much of the inner parts of you - your heart, soul and how you use words with such beauty.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments.  I think I felt a bit touched myself before I wrote it and then when I wrote it and then after I wrote it but, as they say, this too will pass.  I'm waiting!
