Ok this is not my usual type of poetry but I decided to give it a try.
I need some opinions on this type of writing without a rhyme scheme.

         The Prisoner

I am trying so hard to escape you.
Your image is my warden, my guards,
my cell, and these cold bars
that imprison my heart.

Sentenced for life,
I will do my time alone in pain,
amidst the darkness of an
unfathomable future without you.

All that I have left are these
Polaroids of the mind,
and the haunting thought of your smile.
I shall never escape.

Oh my,

This is how I am feeling at the moment...
I am also not used to this style of verse, but I have to say I think it probably works even better this way, reflecting the pain inside...
I loved the use of the polaroid line.
Thank you for sharing it.
