The Gentle Peace

Here, more starlight fills the heavens
For the skies are wide and deep
More enchanting is the moonlight
Where the eyes of dreamers sleep

Whiter is the white of winter
More small footprints dot the snow
And the songbirds sing more sweetly
Than in any place I know

Flowers grace the sloping meadow
With more fragile bits of lace
Even sunsets shine more lovely
Glowing thoughts across my face

And the peace, the gentle peace
That fills each morning as I rise
Is the silence of your presence
Still embedded in my eyes
