He came from California
to Texas, to teach
painting.

For five days we listened
and watched.

After the class was over,
his paintings remained
on the wall
unsold.

I like this a lot.
I like the simplicity.

Allysa,

Thank you for your reply.  It is my first post, and I've got a lot to learn, but I am interested in expressing emotion through poetry.

I appreciate your comments.

Hello, Moon Shadow! Welcome aboard the pip ship!

Your art teacher may not have sold his paintings, but he left a richer man for having imparted his knowledge to his students.

Your poem was short, succinct ~ and was deeper than what was immediately apparent.

Giving you a warm, welcoming hug,

Earth Angel

Hi Earth Angel,

Thanks for welcoming me aboard the pip ship!  I'm sailing into uncharted waters.  I appreciate your comments.

My piece may be more prose than poetry, but I tried to convey something I experienced.  My teacher definitely left us richer and wiser.  The only regret I have was that he wasn't rewarded more for his effort.

That is what I thought you were saying. You appear to have a poetic and compassionate soul ~ and so you have come to the right place! lol

Warm hug,
EA

Welcome Mountain Shadows
I liked how it felt sad that the teacher left...good teachers do that, and they are rare...at least for me they were.

Unsold, but not un-appreciated it seems.
Welcome to this blue word canvas.

Hi SEA,

Yes, it was sad when the week was over.  I was the last one to leave.  On the way out the door I looked back and could read the disappointment in my instructor's body language.  I felt bad for him.

Hi Midnitesun,

Yes, his work was definitely not un-appreciated.  Just unsold.

Thank you for the warm welcome!
