Erie Weeping

The air compressed into misery over Cleveland
Adding moisture to the banality of that concrete trails finality
Though my thoughts collected to the hollow of your hand

Waters rose, flooding over barriers never meant to resist
Every breath seemed far too heavy that my heart dismissed

As I drove, my emotions recoiled from the sheer density
Soon exiting to the picturesque bi-way, a sighs propensity
Changing tense with my affinity for a brighter disposition

Toledo came and went along a monotonous hour
I remained high-minded, but the sky pouted fragrance sour

Travelers bereft tuned into that overcast energy
Signaling unplanned turns in the heat of false urgency
Road rage flipped lane changes that spit back at me

Summarized, the journey had been cold and dark
But destiny prevails its sunshine, another step meant to embark

Yet, this powerful interplay, communicated what words cannot say
Magnetic as the wind, drawing pools of close and vital jewels to see
That I was meant to be, this near to where my hopes and dreams agree

And so it was only Erie weeping,
In the rear view mirror's vigil I'd been keeping

v. interesting 'write'!

I especially love:

"Magnetic as the wind..."

AND:

"near to where my hopes and dreams agree"

Very well penned description of the flooding.
If it’s not hot and bone dry, it’s a deluge.
Nice write Kathy!

Exquisite writing, TD.  Being a native Buckeye, this poem had a special significance to me.  *hugs*....jo
