You are my poetry You are my poetry, you are my words You are the song notes of tropical birds All of the verses I write in the night Are woven of intricate threads of delight When fiery phrases arise from my pen It’s you who ignites them again and again You make the childlike joy of my tune Spin brown autumn fields into meadows of June All that’s contained in the pit of my soul In shadowy corners, in life’s deepest hole All that’s concealed in my intimate wells Springs forth from the deep in unstoppable swells All of the sentiments I have denied All of the teardrops of longing I’ve cried Behind painted walls of a false masquerade Strut forth on the stage in a gallant parade I cannot hide what a sonnet defines When ink draws the truth in indelible lines Admission of love lifts the wing of each word For you are my poem, my tropical bird Elizabeth Santos 8/23/07 |

I had to laugh at Nan's comment, as I know for a fact, Lizzie can go into the bathroom and come out with a poem!  She can spit out sonnets faster than you can say, "Jiggityjig." Miss you lady, that was lovely! |
