Promise Of Spirit

The sun settled to welcome the twilight
God painted skies, covering valleys far,
and somewhere, out over the horizon
someone was wishing on a distant star.

Somehow it was this scene recalled to me
a sing-song lilt, some welcome rhapsody
a held back breath, to see a calm in dusk
a gold gone moment, that held me so free

In dimming sky, a majestical view
visions replayed within these hues of red
magic of moment, held in tranquility
the sun resting upon its earthen bed.

Twas then and there, in the dust of this day
I beheld a spirit, in dance of warm
for light backlit her gown in airy play
I held my breath, to not disturb her form

In shimmer of moon, I watched the ballet
a floating on air, soft sighing of breeze
spirit now learning to find her own way
into moments held, and visions she sees.

Did I dare speak thus, "O, apparition?"
in moonlight's glimmer, a sparkle of light
I should have held back, deny intuition,
my spirit, a willow, moving slow this night

I could not but help to join in the dance
amongst twinkling stars, and silver moon
but did I dare to partake of this chance
to dance the heavenly, mystical tune?

Dawn would come before this night is complete,
my willow's spirit, now lost in sun's light
but a promise, to me, day would repeat
hie towards the skies, come this next twilight...

{Karilea, thank you for allowing me to repost
this piece near and dear to my heart}

Oh my...how beautiful this is!!
Hugs and applause to you both.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.

Your spirits spoke so softly ~ and as one!

An engaging piece of eloquent poetry!

remarkable haunting...grpping fabulously, like a timepiece to a dream which comes alive...wakes up...
Oh yes, yes, dare speak!!!!

Thank you, dear, for bringing this back.  I must admit, I cannot recall who wrote what, but it feels as good now, as it did then.
