Nor'easter blown
frozen-tendrilled unsuspecting vines
of cascading images, surreal scenes.
Life, strewn dispassionately
like yesterday's dreams in savage streams,
silencing Susquehana's song.

Thoughts snagged menacingly
on once-verdant branches
mid debris of plans and promises,
forlorn flotsam, storm-tossed spirits
spun in shallow eddies merged into chaos;
while on a distant shore
a hopeful heron stood,
anchored deep in mud and thought
waiting out the storm.

Kacy, I have heard Susquehana's song and I have seen her raging and also at peace.  Through your words here, I can vividly recall those moments.  It's so nice, to have you back again hon.

In my ever-most-humble opinion, this is a superb 'write'! [grand-fine imagery!]
I long to be the steadfast Heron, rather than the humans whose grand dreams, plans, and promises
have washed away in storm and turbulent chaos! As a Universalist/'Complexity' scientist; 'natural philosopher' (passionate
'student' of Nature) and Pennsylvanian; I was powerfully transported back to Nor'easter and flood experiences past and
memories of how impressively "life always finds a way" (to recover/thrive after such; etc.)....

I could write many pages of a paper about the hidden message in this poem.  I am awed by your talent.

Kacy! Kacy! Kacy! Your presence is always like a balmy spring breeze, yet your writing has the strength and presence of a nor'easter!

Your closing lines were the perfect juxtaposition! (If I'm using that term correctly! )

So good to have you back at out pip hearth 'n home!

Giving you a humongous welcome-back hug!

I believe that I posted a second reply/comment to the same 'write' only once in the past; however, I hope this additional posting will bring this poem to the top of the 'P.I.P.' queue again for awhile so that more folks might notice (and read) it?!  It finely captures the majestic (often unpredictable/uncontrollable) power of Nature's changing boundary between order and chaos....particularly at this transition of seasons; etc.

Kacy,
I know someone like that.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
