Listening to every heart

Foretells…

Colors vibrant, must be male
Red-tailed hawk upon limb,
there, at the end of my drive,
less than a few miles away from
the middle of town

where has his Country gone?

Deer track across my grass,
where the deeper stance lies
she, or he, bent to graze
the greening of the spring
here in this yard

where has their Country gone?

Bush tailed but light and thin
small fox scurried past my eyes,
reddish color, low to ground
white-socked, ears cocked back
in search of food

where has his Country gone?

Barren field, empty house
corporate claim in search of mouse,
bankrupt owners let things go
some retired, some moved on;
barren field, empty stores

where has our Country gone?

a real thought provoker...there was a time when I rode my horse, all over this area, and now, all farm land is gone to building projects, townhouses, businesses, and so forth....my oh my...
well done Kari, could feel the yearning for the old days...
I'd have to move to Northern PA to get away from it all, they call it God's country up there...sigh

Very profound write m'friend.
This is just so true...sadly.
We have to drive quite a few miles to find some kind of sanctuary.
I haven't seen any deer around 'my bay' in the past six years either....
Very thought provoking write.

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Enchantress....look outside your bedroom window

I can feel the longing in this one for the 'old' days. i think every generation goes through this melancholy feeling. from the times of one-street, one saloon western towns to the present. Motors produce exhaust. For the benefit of the power of the motor, fumes foul up the air from the exhaust. The next generation will wish for the space WE had, and so on and so on.

That being said, I share your thoughts completely. I, too, wish for that "less-cluttered" time.....

Sissie...That questions really makes this poem deeply thoughtful as well as profound.  Each day, even each minute has its own change.  In the long run, if the living of the world can respect the other living, than I think the question can be answered, where it is meant to be.

So much has changed, agreed.  So much!  Very thought provoking and true and done in a very gentle, artful way.  We are on the same page on this, SIL.  *hugs*...jo

Sunshine you heart is showing my friend, the spirit speaking loudly. Where there are buildings not needed, more roads than places to go,more resources wasted, let us hope one day we may still see the face of Father Sky beneath the pall of the "country" they built, and the little kin survive our "caring" for them??

where has the country gone? to fight an endless openended war in a quest for the greater greed...but nature will fight back and it is!
