No one sits and talks no more
Forgotten what this life is for
No one shares the things they learn
But we the poets turn by turn

More and more we feed within
Upon the seed of thoughts begin
We then grow strong and find we share
Things that life had stored in there

A time forgot, soul’s scream and pure
Does dip the quill of word occur
And there a portrait one will see
There written for the mind to free

But freedom is a short affair
As often other thoughts are there
Contentment, then the ball and chain
Is nagging till we write again

No one sits and talks no more
We write the words, replies adore
Try to sort our lives of change
Joyous, full, and very strange

But loneliness does creep inside
And that is where the truth does hide
And slowly though we do not talk
We find a road on which to walk

indeed freedom is a short affair Rick

well said

I feel the same way when I work...some people stay around and talk while most others just come in and pay their bill and leave out with only a comment about the weather or something.

It is nice when people stay around a bit.

I know this sentiment, and you have captured it well.

A pleasure to read, enjoyed.

always seeking joy, adventure and romance and wishing you find the same

Oh, absolutely right and what a shame it is that people don't talk anymore.  I was brought up to talk and share but have lived without that for more years than I care to remember.
This needs a bump up!
Enjoyed the read.

I talk enough for most people, but I do know what you mean.  I love a quiet Saturday morning with a cup of coffee - and talking to my Mom or other friends.  The light kind of pours through my large window .. and the chickadees feed off the suet and sunflowers in the sunshine.  It's cold but warm and cozy inside.

I love this poem, Rick.

Hi Dixie, it is indeed a short affair, but even though, one well worth the passion and effort, freedom winks at me most days, I weeken from strenth and allow myself even just a moment of its pleasure. Thanks for the visit dear friend, nice to see you here.

Hi Janette, I think we all know this my friend, thanks for the visit and comment.

Hi Helen, I think that life seems just too busy for us all to talk together anymore, we may start and then feel guilty for spending that time, so the moment gets interupted and the magic is gone. Thank you for the visit here my friend.

Hi aziza, as always great to see you here, it appears you do enjoy a talk, well that's great, people like yourself keep the art going, keep enjoying it and using it, for communications is the all important.
Thanks for the visit my friend, till next time.

To you all my friends, again thank you for the visit, always very much enjoy your company.

"No one sits and talks no more
Forgotten what this life is for"

evenings when I was younger
sitting on the front porch
chatting about everything
yes...
that's what life is about

we can't let that die Rick

Dear Lady, nice to see you here and chat with computer words, not quite the same but it is communications and a way to meet nice people around the world. Have a wonderful day and be well.

What, I wonder,
do those without the ball and chain
of one's muse

do with their quiet time
[which isn't so very quiet...]

but if we could
I would sit and talk
with you.

But I think I'd rather listen...
