Overnight
my teeth grew fur
my tongue swelled
from normal size...
Yesterday I was Ben Hur.
I awoke and I'm Barney Fife.
I only thought
that I knew thirst
yesterday, drinking wine--
and what was in
that shot you bought?
Was it terpentine?
And omigod, the agony,
fingers, please, type quietly,
Alka Seltzer?
Just for me?
plop plop
fizz fizz
'tis my relief.
Oh the moaning.
My, the pain.
To think I must
do this again.
Everyone
has gone insane...
Mardi Gras.
Bacchus reigns.

And yet? I wear the crown.

* * *

I added the last line, just...because.

But of course, you wear the crown!
Thanks for this, sweet K!
I thought about you and Mardis Gras,
wishing I could be there tossing beaded necklaces,
listening to all that great music.
Maybe even tipping a glass of something stronger than green tea.
Thanks sister serenity!

I HAD a new pic to go with this--and I'm actually wearing that crown.

Dunno what happened to it, though, but I ended up giving the boa away...

I really do wish you were here...

(I have spare boas and an extra tiarra. )

Love you much, lady.

Well, hell. The system hasn't been working for me for a few months now (is mercury permanently retrograde) but I did want to share my night out with you guys..so here.

(A double-chinned woman loves a boa.)

And thanks to Mysteria for the tiarra!!!

Helen? *lick*

chuckles

I'm gathering my wardrobe for tomorrow...

wish you were here too.

Folks? There are two projects in New Orleans near and dear to my heart--Charity Hospital and The Audoban Hotel.

I do pray, and I pray that these New Awlins icons will be spared the wrecking ball.

Much love to you all, and support your historical societies.

Good last line, it might help the headache.
You know what they say, get another drink into your system and withdraw slowly.....

You see, what's happened is, there's come to be too much blood in your alcohol system, kill ya everytime....(smile)....You little deviless you!

Yo dear Serenity blaze,

I got a kick out of this one.

My youngest son used to live in New Orleans while he was teaching math at Lyolya.  He loved the place.

Wow, dear Karen, you rendered this mardi gras so vividly! And wow again for the picture!

Thank you for letting us sip at your glass of inspiration!

Love and hugs.

I absolutely loved your poem/blues song for Kacy!  And, as for the photograph, you look beautiful in your normal photo and somewhere around 30, but in this new photo, you genuinely look like a Miss World and about 19 to 21!

I was disappointed in the boa, though.  I was expecting a real one.  However, that one is beautiful, too.

I've never been to New Orleans, Karen. You make me want to go there.
Nice picture.

Bowing to the lady with the crown ( tiara ) and wishing he was there dropping shots across his tongue also.  Thanks for bringing a part of the party to us to share.

awwwwww...I wish I'd known.

By the end of that night, I gave that boa to a little girl I'd made friends with on the parade route. (She seemed quite smitten with all my glitter.)

But I have more.

Besides, by the end of the night? I was, um, molting.

I have missed you much Alyssa. The next boa is for you. *kisses*

Thanks all.
