long to be Phoenix
                   pulling
                   myself
out of my own ash;

     rise perilous

whirling on the thermals
        of my
                  burning!

so why am I a

                  fluffy

                  blue

                  parakeet?

we must all pull ourselves out of the ashes this was very thought provoking but there are few that will pull themselves out they rather just sit in the ash keep doing well

Yup, and I'm guilty as the next parakeet, content to sit on my ash and flap-flap-flap....

Ed..this has a great deal of humor.  You almost lost me about pulling something out of your ash. But I stayed with it.  We all want to be Rodan..but just play the moth.

Perhaps you are awaiting the grill to be
lit and do a nose dive right into the
upper deck of charcoal after squeezing
through those narrow wires....Huh?

Cute write Ed...

Well, Keats would love this, indeed...
and if you hadn't gone there
I wouldn't be chuckling so hard now...

Oh, Fool.  Fool me again, and I'll
probably bomp you.

Because I can!

Ed, I sat here chuckling about the ending for this a while before replying...
I love the twist at the end.

That's one thing about me -- I seem not to have any set style, probably write in more different way than anyone else in PiP. The next thing of mine may look and sound so completely different, you'll wonder if I really wrote it.

Someone here asked me once, if I were actually a group of people taking turns!

Fluffy Blue Parakeet, not only did I enjoy your poem, I was entertained by the responses that you wrote as well!

Keep flying and stay off your ash!

Your response reminds me of this. *S*  /pip/Forum3/HTML/004010.html

I like parakeets -- better than phoenixes, or is that phoenixi? I have to keep buying new cages for the phoenix, and what it does to the drapes! Well!

Aaahh....phoenix, parakeet, phoenakeet.......perhaps that's how we evolve, never know what the next 're-birth' may bring, or what the catalyst may be.

Just don't let the 'blue' -s let you down....LOL.

Loved the humor..

Yep, as usual, our Suthern gal bulls-eyes me....or maybe sees me as already being what I'm only striving to become. A hug for the memory, dear lady!

I don't really know how to respond to this poem.

I don't have anything all that intelligent to say about it
All I know is I keep coming back to read it.
Maybe no words are really necessary.
