How I've Been

Sure, I miss you, I do...
just not as much as I used to
when the pain was so new,

the beginning of the end.

Yeah, I still think about you
when the night is cold and blue,
when the morning is soft with hue

and the roads I follow bend.

Yes, I still want you, deep,
still say your name in my sleep
and certain places still make me weep

but I believe I'm on the mend...

until you call to ask me
if I still love you and how I've been.

A poem begins with a lump in the throat.

That person should call!! Geesh out of the 300+ poems I have written never once has a woman wrote about me; unless it was on the bathroom wall. ohh well. I liked the poem 1 out of 10. 10 being the best I gave it a 6. Thank You for posting this poem!

Yup, every once in awhile something tugs at your heart strings.
You've come a long way sweet lady...
Hold up your head and swallow that lump in your throat.

wonderful write Dixie
this line caught me

"still say your name in my sleep"

hard
no matter how we lose them
we grieve
grief is not forever
it just feels like it...

stay strong

Wonderfully expressed Dixie ,I can see you are on the mend and healing  , but when they tug those heartstrings it comes back to remind that we still have feeling

your growth is on the move, and sometimes, that growth requires us to leave some behind, no matter how painful...as we begin to realize, we're no longer on the same path...that's what we call, knowing ourselves and where we want to go from here.

outstanding write missy...
