              The Towers Down

               there is no answer
               but the question,
               neither hint nor
               bolt of reason shining
          through the smoke and grit
the glass, the steel rebuff the eye,
reject all answers but the one
          the mind will never take
                 there is no answer,
please let there be no answer
                 let no hope arise here
        suck imagination dry and
never let the eye put back
        the random beams, put back
the shattered secrets of the steel,
                  the glass grit showered out
                  into the smoke of it
oh let them lie here mute and real
          because there is no answer
                     but to stop to stare
                     to ask the answer question,
               and to turn away
               from a silent, empty sky

So many recent horrors
and their anniversaries
tear at us afresh...

I've been thinking of this and Reset... and was hoping you'd post one or both again for today... bless you.

It just doesn't stop hurting, does it?

frozen in time
in my mind.

RESET it shall be, dear suthern lady....yes, it's definitely time for Reset.

And, given the ugliness that's being created by the lower half of our political system's food chain as we go into this election cycle, this one:

Thank you for reminding me!

It is my pleasure to remind you. *S*

I still have both Reset and The Towers Down in their frames... from when you were generous enough to allow our library to use them in a remembrance display. *S* Some poems should remain framed... especially in our hearts and memories. *S*

Eddy darling man, now this is exactly what I was talking about, this is truly one of those poems that sear into the mind and heart of all and as such cannot be forgotten. truly one of your masterpieces, and thank you for letting it been seen as such.
You really and truly do have an amazing talent, and I am so glad I get the opportunity to read your words.
Love and warm stuff
