My dignity,
surrounded by faded denim
holding the last wrinkled buck
in a worn brown wallet.

A stubbled face woefully
looking back into my
eyes as my brow stretched
backwards into the night sky.

Funny, how a worn wallet can
keep dignity in place and
a worn buck from being spent
on a poor man’s dinner.

Love it Man!

Kinda reminds me of Shaver's song, "Bottom Dollar"!

There is something about a man in faded jeans that makes me forget all about his wallet--reminds me of earlier days, too, when times were lean.  Very evocative words, Barry, I liked this very much!

For me, like Klassy Lassy, a man in faded jeans doesn't need a wallet, Barry.  I loved your superb gem of a poem - and boy, do I understand the last stanza!  I esppppppppppppppecially loved not only the title, but also how perfect it was for the poem.

Getting back to the title, it makes me feel (stupidly, I suppose) how extremely well you have understood your poem - which tranlsated out of stupidity into sense, is saying how expertly you have expressed yourself.

Barry/very...you say you're wearing old faded jeans?  The wallet fits just fine within...and all of it touches me!

hmmmm, have you ever noticed the great fit and feel of a warn wallet, a pair of favorite shoes, old pajamas?  I'd rather the feel of those great things Barry, then anything new....new and shiny is nice, but simply not...yanno?

Love and hugs to ya for your wisdom....thank you
