I thought I found you again,
when I saw your name in the phone directory
I excitedly dialled the numbers
But it turned out to be a human
who happened to share your name.

I looked you up in the dictionary,
in encyclopedias and reference books.
They told me what I already know,
and despite my frenzied searching,
you weren't hiding between the pages.

So I googled you.
You are the name of a band from Devon,
An online database of more than 200 journals from non-profit publishers,
A site for science fiction, fantasy and alternative writing and artwork...
But that's not what I'm looking for.

So I tried smelling you
in the fragrance of a frangipani...
tasting you
in bubbles of champagne dancing on my tongue...
feeling you
on a summer breeze.

But you are nowhere to be found.

It seems you've left me
for one worthier of the inspiration you bestow.
So I send this to the universe:
My beloved muse, please come back!
I'm sorry, and I am not myself without you.

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

Lee... unfortunately with a name as uncommon as mine, google returns with references to myself.. some of which I'd rather have remained hidden!

Eagle, Seymour, Lady, CG, thanks for reading!!

Well, if this is how good you are without your muse, be careful you don't explode when your muse comes back!

My word! Your Miss Muse is not missing! She's sitting on your shoulder and guiding your pen!~ and expertly at that!

Very, very clever Dear Dust of Rainbow!
