Graceful gulls hung above
green coastlines craggy.
Hushing waves lapped
onto rocks, beneath the bridge
arching high above.
Bathing the room with
amber light, crystal sun
illuminated the roses
unfurling in the window.
Chatting among friends,
i kept one eye out
for her. Across the bridge to
the mainland, she talked
with her sister.
Walking across the bridge,
at last she was there.
We sat quietly eating,
with the waves whispering
gently in our ears, the moon
flashing off the surf, the
world far away beyond.

Phil, what a beautiful scene you've painted.  I love the warmth of amber light, and the softness of this write.

You let me feel this scene....I like the flow of this poem, the way you moved it internally in a way that matched the external movement of the scene. Good stuff!

J. M. Barrie, the playwright, may have said it best when he wrote, “God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December.”

Very idyllic imagery of the time spent with a special person near the ocean.  This feels mystical, the way it always affects me when I'm near the incessant surging of the sea. Memory making moments...
