Poem #3 here at Passions, written this morning as I got ready. The spastic slashing crash of garbage trucks outside sweeps aside my forgotten dream and tosses me out of bed to the grey weary carpet of my cramped hobo downtown apartment The drenching sunlight creeps in the slivers of the window shutters Cold sunlight, icicle beams, announcing another rotten dead-end day As I sift through worn clothes I ponder the existence of white sand beaches and crystal oceans and free wandering Carribean breezes and white marble courtyards and winding elaborate staircases climbed by gypsy maidens shimmering emerald earrings as I step out on the foggy haze of a dead concrete penitentiary street and wait in a forced Orwellian bus line Off to work! Another day has come! |
