Saluting with misty eyes

0 posted 2006-03-06 11:54 AM

I looked out the window
Watched her walk into the past
Thinking of how life
Passed me by
Never without a second glance
She wanted more than I could give
Never accepting
The things I kept inside for her
Now, as I lay here
Alone
I still see her face
Laughing at me
At what she felt I had become
Without her to raise me into the light
She never saw the life inside
Only the lies in her mind
So, I roll out of bed
Place my feet on the floor
Firmly
With the conviction of certainty
I begin the thousand miles
With the first step towards my success

If anyone can come up with a better title, I would love you forever and promise to be your slave... as long as I didn't have to do anything.

To be merciful to the cruel is to be cruel to the merciful.

Using your own words, "The First Step" would, in my mind, make for a wonderfully positive title for your poem!
