Filling Spaces

truly, you and I
were lovers
nothing else
but empty
spaces to fill
and you said
for me not to
hang on you
as if those were
just sheets left
out to dry
on the line
in the back
so there were
no secrets
and so all
the neighbors knew
and there was
my car parked boldly
on concrete that
led straight to
your door
and I do
remember it was
always locked
when I was
the only one knocking
even when you
knew it was me
just saving you again
from being
lonely

just some words cut out
from the diary of my heart

Great clarity!!!

"...and I do
remember it was
always locked
when I was
the only one knocking..."

Don't know about this person, but my door is always locked; it is like always sitting with my back to a wall.  Some habits learned young never fade, but you could knock on my door and I would let you in.

*smile*

I'm with Sy..."There are
knocks and then there are
knocks"... and then there is
this knock. This knock was
great!
