Listen very closely
when you walk near Freeman’s Hill
and you may hear the voices
restless souls haunt there, still.
Nurse Maggie May
up and disappeared one day
and all that old man Tucker said
was that she had gone away.

Strange things started happening
the day Miss Maggie left the grounds,
the house was awfully quiet
except for every now and then, the sounds
akin to an infants cry
you could hear it on the wind.

Now, it was common knowledge
that Emmy Lou Tucker could not bear
any children of her own
still, you could hear a baby crying there.

Glimpses of a baby boy were caught
but Mr. Tucker always said no,
that this was just a nephew
and that he had to go
back to live with his parents
again, he'd never be seen;
Mrs. Tucker’s hair turned suddenly gray
and Mr. Tucker grew downright mean.

The years passed by quickly
and they laid Emmy Tucker to rest.
She had always tried
to give Ernest Tucker her very best
but she could never give him
the one thing that he truly desired

he had loved his Emmy Lou...
but his heart was filled with ire.

No one was ever sure
what really happened to Maggie May
but it's rumored that Ernest Tucker
had something to do with her going away.
Even now, when the darkness comes
and evening turns to night
if you walk past Freeman’s Hill
it is said that you can see a light
faintly in the distance, in a soft and peaceful glow
two figures sitting in the silence
waiting for a third to show...

Not far in the distance
you can hear a mother’s heart in sigh...

not far in the distance
you can hear a babies cry.

seek the flame within yourself
and let your soul be cleansed by
the fire of love.  Axel Ekenstierna

Oh the haunting!  I enjoyed this very much. It has a sinister quality to it like stories that are told around campfires when shadows leap and move from fire light.  Very Gothic!
