I thought you stole everything from me that day
My innocence, my trust, my hope.
My ability to see poetry and beauty
In a world filled with almost everything but.

And for 3 long years, I thought you had won.
My quill was dry
The words would not come
Each scratching on the parchment
Was pain and horror revisited

I thought my muse's mutilated remains
Would forever remain within my ravaged soul.

But the words came back!
And I can once again see the poetry
In a world full of senseless violence
And so... much... pain...

Yes, the words came back
Along with everything else
And my muse is glowing!
Living in the most sacred part of my soul

Indeed, the words came back
- my final victory -
- my rainbow through the tears -
And they are more beautiful than ever before.

This was inspired by Kacy's poem 'Its Not OK' and playing.with.crayon's subsequent comment:

The muse will always be with you..it is like a good fever..that will inexorably surface at some point...and then the passion comes and the quickening starts..enjoyed this..all who write here can relate to this poem..thank you..

Our muses seem to pick our quiet times,
and also seem to nudge us in just the right directions sometimes.  Very nicely written RBD.  Much enjoyed your art here.

I'm glad this turned out not to be true. I find this poem very cleansing Rainbowdust. Well done.
