hiding 'hind a poker face
security in blank of stare...
beyond the hypnotize of
eyes in realize of
rules unfair

in unawares
of ace in sleeve...
the cards were cut
in confidence
and quicker than the
eye can see
a heart was dealt
from 'neath the deck...
illusion of a
winning hand
with joker in his
dance of wild
as if he knows the
fates to be... and
in his knowing
smiles...

the poker face is
growing tired...
the game the same
with every hand
the chips are down
no bluffing now

the final round...

Hi Vicky! "Because" is a perfect reason for repost, I've used it a few times myself. Your poem amd it's metaphor is so well done. I hope you win in the games you play, especially the game of hearts!!
