Old boats
Docked in the harbor
Their engines still
And all sails down

They rise— and fall
Then rise— and fall again
With the tides
From dawn to dusk
Throughout the night
Yet stay where they are

It is dead winter—
With the air very cold
The waters nearly frozen
And there’s nowhere to go

Or nowhere to go
Where they haven’t been before

A fine— white snow
Just drops from the sky

In silence
Not comment
On a vacant sea

Ahhhh, but the commercial fishermen and women still return to the sea in the winter.

A lovely description of a place I have visited many times.
