My heart forgot itself
and stepped aside
to make room
when the butterfly
passed by,

numbed with complacency,
the walls echoing
in a dormant rhyme

now flooding with flowers
and fluttering with joy,

the rebirth of your kiss
on the dying lips of august

as the butterfly passed by.

I love the brevity in this Oh Inked one...
and the deep meanings layered within...

well done Michelle.

"your kiss, remembered
on the dying lips
of august"

You know that split second feeling you get in your chest right before you start to cry?

I had that feeling when I read that last stanza...

you touched something in me with those words.

Ah! beauty goes its way,
Flutters by..heart strings play
Old melodies
Something in the instrument
Remembering...color and happiness

Other summers gone
And a gone lovers kiss

This is what this says to me..

There is sadness in a poem like this,
but that does not take away from its lovelyness....

enjoyed

So sensual, the visions you conjure with words spun of silken weave.
Enjoyed your beautiful poetry.
