The sea has moved to disengage
from the contrary shore
and the idle hands of man
twiddling thumbs instead of love
underneath the moon …

and the stars; there are stars
dancing wisdom to the wise
high above the waves
rolling, rolling, rolling,
in the throes of loneliness.

Yes, the sea has disengaged
to let the people be
content to witness from afar
the turmoil of her being
but strong today, a tidal wave,
the turn around of love,
takes a backward look ...

and the shells; there are shells
smoothed by memories
delivered and embedded
into love’s eternity
as a test and a measure
of foundations laid.

A million years have passed
since the parting hands
but the sea, maybe me,
rolls awareness to the shore
of a childhood home
neglected with the passing …

and the tears; there are tears
on the current crossing over
like the sea looking sideways
from the edge of love.

The sea, the sea, a way of being,
from storm to settled calm
waits another million years …

but footprints; there are footprints,
in the moon’s afterglow
un-erased by the sea’s
deep emotive waves.

The sea and the shore –
look again and tell me more
for I’m a mind-locked maiden
in this touch/withdraw
of the sea and shore…

and the fear; there is fear
that sea to the shore
like an irritating bee
around honey of the free!

Helen, you have deftly shown the vivacity and sentience of sea and shore. Beautifully scribed, Dear One!

Helen -- you are a poet's poet!  Do you know, as I read this, I even felt the rhytm of waves ... and the rise and fall of tide.  ......jo

No maybe about it, dear one, you roll awareness every time you write...and I for one am greatful!
