In a sea of understanding
I am but an island,
where local customs may prevail,
built of rock drawn up from the Mother's bed,
I exist standing stark and steady
in the New Moon's running tide.

In moments of recall I shed my shackles,
my oft stilled soul no more entrapped,
wrapped inside the jungle's heady pulse
I feel an ancient lust for life's affirmation
still drumming thickly in my blood,
binding rhythmic strings of mutual pleasure.

Two souls woven all too briefly
within moments strumming softly,
swelling notes of fragile visions
promising a chorus of eternity
and redemption in refrain;

the cleansing thunder of the frantic storm
fading toward horizons of reforming memory,
the outlines of life's most wistful treasures,
the mind's most prized beliefs,

remind me that the slickest ship of lies,
racing brightly bluff and taut
before a steady wind and running stream,
falls off and stumbles lost
within the ever following tides of truth.

icebox

This has a lovely cadance, and much to think about within the words.  I've missed your poetry.

Yes, it does but only "eventually".
It's always a pleasure reading you - thanks!

Agreeing with Lee J here,so many lines to quote, but this, was an outstanding image;

remind me that the slickest ship of lies,
racing brightly bluff and taut

keeping this for the library.

lusty!

lol..could be me.

"remind me that the slickest ship of lies,
racing brightly bluff and taut
before a steady wind and running stream,
falls off and stumbles lost
within the ever following tides of truth."

sometimes it's better just to say nothing.

Icebox,
"remind me that the slickest ship of lies,
racing brightly bluff and taut
before a steady wind and running stream,
falls off and stumbles lost
within the ever following tides of truth."

Is the wind in your sail. Enjoyed

I'll sit becalmed, awaiting  the next breeze, so you can have whatever wind now touches my sails...may the dawn catch you smiling, my friend.

You certainly make it worth a fellow's while to open a browser and read.  Salute.
