We don’t get snow here in Florida.
Well, once in ‘89
but that was a fluke.

I hear the snow up there
is piling up
crystallizing the day.

I envy the white
the cold
the cleansing of impurity
the chance for a clean start.

I envy it because it’s there
to behold without doubt.
Everyone sees and feels it.

Down here everyone knows
how hard it can be
to cleanse without freeze

But we muddle through.

So when you look at me
and see the smug smile
know…

That it snowed
with an intensity
and I am free.

a rather embracing poem...except this, when you long for such a snow...remember, it all has to be shoveled, which when your older, is a back breaking job....not to mention, the tension in driving home, with all the crazies who have 4-wheel drive and think, they can go 55 MPH never slidding, infalible to any accident.

Oh, I'm not worried about a near death experience, but the inconvenience of an accident...ugh....

anyways, if I didn't have to shovel, I would find the intricate beauty you have so painted here, and I do, honestly....as snow is certainly a wondrous part of nature.

Hugs to you, and forgive me being a snow scrudge....

I remember when my cousins from Florida visited us in Ohio and made a snowman.  They were so excited they bought a large cooler and took it home.  I believe he was in the freezer for about eight years!
Thanks for the snowy trip.  Perhaps I'll appreciate the day a little more when we become bombarded with white!

Watch out for snowballs! It's pretty to look at but it sure can be hard on the forehead.LOL The temp isn't that much fun either.

Susan,

this reminded me of when it snows here and it is night and no one is awake and you stand out in the open freezing air, gaping at the sky, the snow clinging to the trees and it is sooooo quiet . . . all you can do is open your mouth . . . wide

and catch snowflakes.

Beautiful.

This is a really good write...
As for the snow??? YOU CAN HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!     lol

It has been snowing for just over 6 hours here, and the county has already declared a state of emergency: No one is alowed on the roads except for emergency crews, and those returning from work. The plows are out in full force (the ONE that my town owns), and are attempting to get the streets cleared.  The weather service is squawking about near 12 inches over the next 24 hours, with it snowing as much as 1-2 inches an hour at some points during the night.

Now, if I only felt the same way about snow as I do about your writing!!!!
lol

Great Job.

In the wooden chair
Beside my window
I wear a face born in the falling rain

What?...huh?...oh...that is completely different...*grin*

Great poem and I am looking out at 6 inches of fresh white stuff with more still coming down.
