Smooth, smooth,
like old vintage wine
I sit here a product of time
not bottled and corked
but forever denied
the air of release
and peace.

Red, red,
the red of my blood
hot in confinement cries
as segments of hope
break and detach
from the core of a true heart.

Dark, dank, and musty, the air
I’m forced to rely upon
while dust settles over the all
I wanted to be and do
before maturity.

Still in the process
my spirit grows strong,
strong enough to believe that time
will herald in a need and desire
for the full bodied essence of me …
but maybe only in dreams
will the warm and “beautiful” (?) me
slide between the folds of a mind
and open the porthole to more.

Smooth, smooth, and red, so red,
yet I lie on the side unused
till he who would drink
stands at my door
and asks, simply asks,
to come in!

Thanks all for the read and Dixie and Marge for the birthday wishes too.  It's a pity that only the mind, heart, soul, ages sometimes gracefully while the body certainly never can.  Oh well, drink up!

*Clink* A toast to you on your birthday!
And, an excellent write I might add!

Now while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again.

Thank you both for the wishes.  Yes, a drink or two chases the shadows away - temporarily.
