Your stay was gentle
and all in a whisper,
as cinnamon memories liquify
into bamboo and ebony
dreams seem, to my soul
made child again,
in the secrecy of the black cypresses
that stay the inclement ascent
of splendor slow  to rise
low in amber eyes, embers
of innocence in whose depth
I consume every rememberance,
when on cold, quivering nights
there is no other light, no ease
other than these pinions
which breathe from the soul,
and the road that dreams take
while sleeping, the hand sows
seeds of reconciliation, and weaves
the ecru syllables into visions
of attar in the hour
of distant orchards the cock
is heard hurling
its soft peals of eternity
through shafts of plumage,
as its echoes herald longing
throughout these old gardens of cedar,
to stay you, to stay you,
gently as a whisper.

love the bamboo and ebony here... one a grass, the other a tree and both strong, decorative, and hard....

I can almost hear you read this... in a voice that is strong yet tender...
much like I hear most fo the words you've posted...

nicely done ma'm... very nicely done..

good grief... I'd kill for your grasp of vocabulary...for that matter...I'd kill for a muse that wrote as consistant and constant as yours seems to...Im lucky to write once every blue moon...
guess thats the difference between poets and the poet wannabes. lol

Id be real interested to know what your literary back ground is....
English Major?
Used to work in a library?

What I really wanna know is where does one learn all these big words??????  LOL

forgive me....
poetic envy makes me moth silly.

Moth lady~

thanks for the love...as for the words...I suppose i spent most of my childhood in books...they were my escape from a reality where the only poetry I could read was body language...city life...and the odds always against us...but there you have it...I actually was an anthropology major in college with a minor in theology...mostly eastern religions...and alot of my poetry also comes from that spiritual base...

thanks for the interest...your own poetry is very rich and textured...thanks for checking me out...

Your words are always part of my "milk and cookies."   Your poetry along with the gentle music of a pianist from Vancouver named, Lori-Ann Speed are pure magic together.  If you can ever get hold of some of her music, trust me you will "hear" yourself.  One CD, "In The Wake Of A Whisper" almost screams to have this poem on the piece after the album's title.

Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing.
