Far from where I am going

metal monstrocoties
line in rows of white paint
surrounded by plowed ice mounds
suspicious shadows
fly across mirrors.
Ice shatters across
an unsuspecting cranium
as familiar laughter abounds.
parking lot greetings
as punctuality tones
fall into hurried ears.
