* * *

I see the Christmas shoppers
As they hurriedly walk on by
Most won't glance my way
They cannot look me in the eye

They've lost the meaning of Christmas
Consumed by presents galore
I have only one thing on my list
That can't be brought from a store

A gift from the heart
Is something that I'd treasure
The gift of love is priceless
And is quite simply beyond measure

How will I spend Christmas?
Do I hear you enquire
As the pigeons start to circle
High above the church spire

I hope to get a free meal
Just like I did last year
The Salvos are my angels
They supply my Christmas cheer

For me there'll be no presents
But that is quite okay
Just to be touched by love
Would truly make my day

"The most emotionally healthy people
in our society are able to put
themselves into other people's shoes,
know how someone else is feeling
and care about that.
This capacity extends beyond
sexual and family intimacy.
It creates a circle of genuine feeling
that can extend, eventually
to all of humankind"

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Hi Sue ... well this certainly brought tears and made me stop in my tracks to think about others.
Thank you.

I send hugs and Christmas greetings to you and your family.

Beautiful sentiment. An 84 year old woman, whose 92 year old husband is waning, lightly brushed back one of my loose locks the other day. It was so natural for her and even though so brief almost a week later I feel that spontaneous gesture of love.....it was free, it was a gift.

A 'walk a mile in ones' shoes" post is timely here.......and appreciated.

One person at a time.... you never know what your smile did for the reciever.. your hand shake to one who hasn't felt human in so long...or a hug
It realy is what it's all about .. at least for me

Only those with a kind and compassionate heart can do this, Sue. And, I do believe that you are one of those people. I really like this.

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments.  I guess we all need to be reminded that it is the simple things in life that mean the most, not the material things.

Take care.......Sue

You bring smiles and cheer whenever you post and for that I say thank you.  Teaching you are and you do it very well.  A most enjoyable read and a treasure of a reminder for us all to slow down and take a look with the eyes of our heart.

Mark

I was wanting to send you a message by email but I didn't have your address.  You have said so many wonderful things about my poetry and for that I am so very grateful.

Sue,  you are an angel,  disguised as a
mere human...but having so many qualities
that each of us could truly gain from...IF
only we stopped long enough to smell and
share a rose with one less fortunate than
ourselves...

Thanx dear friend,  this is a touching and
truthful write....straight from an Angel's
heart...to ours!
