So here we are, all gathered 'round
The time has come again
To celebrate Thanksgiving with
A group of special friends.
So many things have happened since
We last joined in this feast.
It's been a year of ups and downs,
To say the very least.

Unwelcome visitors came by,
One heck of a surprise
When Charley, Frances, Ivan showed up,
Dropping from the skies.
Shutters up, then shutters down
Then shutters up once more.
Power off, then on - a zillion
Trips down to the store.

But we were spared by grace of God
Or maybe pure dumb luck.
Our hearts go out to those small towns
Where all three storms had struck.
Sometimes I think that Life's a game
With fortune won or lost
Depending on really nothing more
Than how the dice are tossed.

Election came - election went
And Bush is still on top.
Kerry had a flipping chance
But, in the end, he flopped.
Sometimes it seems we just don't get
A decent man to choose
And even when we win, we get
The feeling that we lose.

The Dolphins??? HAH! No winners there
Since Ricky went to pot
But Shaq's in town to save us and
The Heat look pretty hot.
The Marlins fell a little short
Of making play-off games
And Hurricanes and Seminoles
Have both gone down in flames.

So close the book on this past year.
It's time to bid adieu.
Let's concentrate on all the things
We're looking forward to.
Let's say a prayer for all our soldiers
Fighting in Iraq
With hopes that soon will come the day
We have our young men back.

Let's toast to health and happiness
Throughout the coming year
And hope that, next Thanksgiving,
We will meet again right here.

And could there be a better way
to top off good ol' Turkey day...?

Nope!  Thanks, 'Deer!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all
of Pip's Poets and families!

(angel friendship hugs) Awwwww, thanks for the special Thanksgiving treat to us all, yay! (smiles) Though we may have different feelings toward the election and such, what matters most is that we're all together here to celebrate for the same cause, that we are one big American family and what makes us each unique only makes us love each other even more! (does happy dance) You've just inspired a great idea in me; we all ought to write our own poems from the states we live in as each state has a unique culture and a story to share, yay, God Bless You, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your whole family, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thank you my lovely sweet friend Deer
For giving Thanksgiving blessings here
Let's hope that one day all will know
That only peace can steal the show

I hope you're enjoying your turkey well
Closing my eyes I can imagine the smell
Of roasted meat and stuffings sweet
One day again I hope we will meet

When I think of Thanksgiving day
I remember a friendship of many I'd say
I'm thankful to all the people I've met
On Tampa's weekend, when friendships were set

It's been three years but I recall
These cherished moments with Poets all
I have a lot to be thankful for
Because even Chipmunk walked through that door

I wish you a happy and joyful Thanksgiving
I wish we all were closer by living
I wish I could really relive those days
Who knows, Luck has it's own, mysterious ways

HAPPY THANKSGIVING BALLADEER PAL

Titia

If not for the "drop-ins",  you would have
had just a normal sunny hohummm year, huh?

Happy T day to ya Michael....and yes,  pray
for our lads and lasses overseas...they
certainly deserve that from us.

A beautifully rhymed poem of Thanksgiving Balladeer, and to be honest ... I am just so very thankful that all you folks endured this year has only made you stronger.  You Florida folks are surely a different breed, and that is a good thing!  Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

All too true! Well done, Mike.

And sadly, Christmas will be tighter this year for a lot of people here in Florida. All some people want for Christmas is a roof repair!!

Thanks for the Thanksgiving poem, my fellow Floridian. You covered about everything, my friend. And, like you and PDV said, instead of singing, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth", lots of folks here in Florida will be singing "All I want for Christms is my blue roof fixed". But, also like you told Sharon...it WILL get better!!
Heart Hugs to you and yours,
Ethel
