Only in the morning of shorter days
before the dawn,
skyscape doorway into eternity,
the magic of the bay
a reprieve from missing her.
Poetry within the poem
something to hold onto
after first of September
thoughts and things.

Sadder is the struggle in the standoff
Saturday is calling.  Why am I standing still
resisting strange waters?

Life, love, pain and sorrow,
never ending stretches far and wide
till the 2.45am serenade of interim dreams
but not even this, a dream in Braille,
permanent solace in the twilight zone.

Just one day turn, turn, around
don’t take anything – welcome home
but what if Sunday never comes?

Chewing on this, confusion
you are a man, not a leaf,
does the day fit ya?
It’s your choice – the flipside of ice
but tired shades, thief of quiet nights,
“What am I gonna do?” …
and here we go again
smoky mountain shadows
in the space between us.

Here, there, Africa, South Africa,
the shadow world,
six of one – half a dozen of the other,
by the light of the silvery moon
something took place there.
Not black and white
an encounter with someone like you.

So you would know me
where essence does exist?
The aroma of sensuality
not now, no more.
Where did it go?
I left a ribbon on the shore
for you to touch a brighter star
but have you heard the agony
because there is a were?
I will be going home.
Nasty business
my deal with the devil
but this is for you,
my word twist held within
pages of blue.

Feel the poet’s power
painting in the sky
every word of love
and angels tears as a raindrop falls
for the memory’s never gone.

Just call me if you need me
to enter your caress!

Helen / 19 November 2004

A big “thank you” to all poets for the use of titles
that have enabled me to say … not all but enough.

It has indeed been my pleasure, Sunshine.  I may pick it up again in the future just to say I did them all - just too many for now.

Oops - pressed send too soon.  Thanks Ratleader and Enchantress for reading.  It's a fun exercise for those who can't sleep and then don't sleep because of the challenge.  Can't say I've slept any better afterwards though.

Kudos! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this monumental poetic effort! It was fun identifying the authors of the various titles! ~ Mine included!

You did a smashing job!

Thanks, Linda.  I'm glad you found the final episode and that you enjoyed them.  I call these little forays - my breakaway from reality.

You have created an incredibly enjoyable flow of words, assembling all the pieces to form a final vision of poetic emotions.

Thank you, Honeybunch.
