Park Bench

I have heard of a bench that’s quite known to all
That is used by some spirits some days in the Fall.
You can find such a bench near a creek ‘neath a tree.
And I hope it comes true that which happened to me.

For I came to this bench with my worries and strife
And a spirit was there; she was so full of life.
Now I think of this spirit with all of her care
For you see, we’re all nurtured by spirits somewhere.

On that bench all my worries were lifted from me.
When I asked of the spirit how it happened to be,
She related that one day she’d come to that scene
And she found that her worries became quite serene.

But she offered as well this quite sobering thought
That her magic would only be good, as it ought.
If you knew by yourself you could easily wrench
All the cares in your life by that magical bench.

Now that's a park bench every neighborhood needs! Imagine if there were millions of them scattered 'round the world.

Ken

Everyone needs a place to go, where they can sit and reflect on the beauty around and leave all the worries behind.  I'm glad you found this place in time and space.  A wonderful poem, my friend!

Ken, I know a poet of our very own
who would inhabit such a bench;
and I'll bet you were guided here,
and a photo from me, you'd wrench!

I love the fact that this poet knows
both the likes of you, and of me...
for this poet I love, thinks just like you...
and finds such a bench a mystery...

she hears the sounds that no one hears,
she feels the spirits that just ARE...
and her words, I feel, have been felt by you...
she is THAT type of evening star...

So thank you for asking, I'm glad I helped
a poet in need, for a photo he yelped!

Such an enchanting and magical place to have found Ken.
And your wonderful words to take us there.

Such a place can be transitory, or it can become so filled with meaning that it is virtually a shrine....Yes...so many spiritual dimensions that shrine is the right word.

You may have helped many a troubled soul with this inspirational poem. They could now be out there looking for such a place to unburden themselves of their problems or to at least put things into proper perspective.

An oasis of a poem!

Warm, autumnal hugs,
Linda

My personal bench is a sand dune on the beach down the street from me.  Night or day, it always holds me just right.  I read this one first silently but then came back and read it aloud.  It encases a rhythm to it that entices the reader on.  Beautiful from the first line to the last.

I give thanks to all who have stopped by my bench
To whisper a prayer for some healing and such
I hope that you know a small place all your own
That helps you to heal whenever you're down.

Thanks to all.  Ken

Such a wonderful piece of writing which left me feeling at peace.  The picture was simply breathtaking and your words took me there.
