Termites

Sometimes I hear them silent in my walls,
deconstructing what I’ve built
in a din of no sound.

There’s no change, nothing to see
and say “There, termites did this,”
but I know, I know.

It wouldn’t matter if I killed them all,
they’d just come back again,
so I leave them alone.

If I stay long enough, this house
will fall down around me.
Somehow I don’t mind.

I can’t just leave. It’s mine; I belong here
and I know much too well now,
walls don’t really matter.

I love the paralells in this. When I read it I felt as if the walls of piptalk are surrounded by termites..(adware) and that someday the adware will bring these walls down.. but not for along time. And until then I won't care because these walls are a second home to me.

Good poem, much enjoyed Ratleader!

As Kellie points out, there are a lot of parallels, as well as layers, in this.  But I would take it out of the scope of Passions, and apply it to real life...

and ain't that the truth.

Well done, Sir.

Sometimes, almost, in a weird and sick way, the termites belong there too. And you're right... walls don't really matter.
I'm never disappointed when I read you.
Thank you...

Great poem.  Could be applied to other kinds of termites, as well, and that is what entralls me about this one.   ....jo

There's so much depth here... making it a wonderful read on so many levels. *S*

Unfortunately, the walls most in need of termites are usually brick mortared seamlessly. *S*

Excellent work!
