I smell desert spices
and remember you--
There are no more blossoms
nor subtle blends.
The evening, our time,
our caravan, has vanished.

A new rainfall comes
for both of us;
poured out from a sweet
decanter.

There’s an echo
over the dunes,
a vision of roses,
a delicate sound.
I say your name again,
you’re lifted from sandstone
into incense,
and remain beautiful.
