CONFESSION

I wish I could just live on hope,
Never have to view reality.
It gets hard sometimes just to cope
With things not meant for me to see.

A gleam missing upon the eye
A face that quickly turns away.
A wish of love met with a sigh.
Tomorrow's dream feigned yesterday.

A smile slowly slipped asunder,
Replaced, a disappointed glare.
A distant face wherein all wonder
Only leads further towards despair.

On words that never tip the tongue,
What truths I hear I bear to shame;
In curse I've held since I was young,
That none would ever share by name.

Be it by pride, be it by sin,
For which one never will atone.
The darkest light reveals within,
A candle held ever alone.

Looking back on past transgression,
Therein really having no choice.
I'd rather die of indiscretion,
Than carry on without a voice.

My heart, my brother. Once again we travel the same path. Tis a shame we must journey together on the trail of despair. At least I know I need not feel lonely.

"I wish I could just live on hope,
Never have to view reality."

The poem was great of course, but after these first as the opening lines, you need not have continued my friend. It says it all.

Geeze, Michael, what can I say? All of your poems lately have been so powerful, so painful, and so unrelenting with emotion. I too am going through troubles of the heart, but they can in no way compare to yours. I wish you good luck with yours. I hope that whatever is inspires these recent poems remedies itself. Have faith Michael.

I know well the emotion of disappointment.

That we each are a part of one another
We've lost as much as we have won...
And as our lives have grown
We have found that it only brings us pain
To hang on to the things that we have done...

Michael. . .

It would seem that doubt has rasied its ugly head. . . but remember, just because you can't see that far down the path, doesn't mean that you're going the wrong way. . .
