A KISS

To know darkness eternal
To shun the sun and its light
These things I did not realize
When I took my first delight

To live through all eternity
Until the end of time
Eternal life, eternal youth
These things I did desire

He held the gift out to me
A present of his love
He made me want it all
His power, his strength, his love

I took the gift, embraced it
Gave my soul to him
For him I gave my life's blood
From him I took new life

The night became my playground
The moon my brightest light
I learned to eat a different meal
To drink a different wine

I've traveled through time forgotten
Where others cannot go
Watched humanity change and grow
I took what I wanted most

To embrace a new soul each night
This I crave and need
To fortify my eternal life
And satisfy my greed

The madness grows inside me
Each night I take a meal
On day I'll suffocate
From the insanity I'll feel

What a fool you are to think I care
What you may think or feel
'Tis a human condition, morality
Love me if you dare

Think of all I could give you
My power, my strength, my love
All you must do is embrace it
My gift of a vampire's kiss

Very very good, Lady B...very good imagery and use of metaphors...I have a friend who often writes about vampires...h'ed love this one...

"...she said I dont know if I've ever been good enough...I'm a little bit rusty...and I feel like my head is caving in,
and I dont know if I've ever been really loved- by a hand thats touched me, and I feel like somethings gonna give...and I'm a little bit angry...
Well...this aint over..NO not yet...not while I still need you around"...

TanAngel and Janet Marie,
Thank you.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  This is the only poem I've written about vampires, but I love reading about them.

This poem is well written.  First one I've seen about Vampire's and this would be hard to beat.
Nice work!

Danny and Avanti,

I wanted to thank you for your comments.  This was one of those poems that just flowed from beginning to end.  Once I started, I couldn't stop until it was done.  Who would have thought that a little story written by an Irish drunkard, called "Dracula", could influence the mind to such poetic expression.

There have been no revisions, so it's good to know it went over well.

Thank you,

I can't really say a lot that hasn't already been said, but I felt it deserved some sort of reply. I really enjoyed this.
