~The Pain Of The Past~

Voices that return in echo's ... from the distant past,
Old wounds that wont heal, pain that lingers and lasts.

Whispers turn to whines, crying in the night,
Reasons are lost to the questions with no answers in sight.

The loss almost overtakes and breaks my will,
No release from these moments, time seems to stand still.

Childhood memories return, old ghosts calling my name,
The demons are now older, but the pain is still the same.

Returning for the answers-needing the reasons of why,
Remembering the promises broken, lost to living this lie.

From the shadows of this pain, I intend to be free,
Reclaiming my trust and faith...all the things you took from me.

Janet Marie

*this second poem just sort of came as as after thought, as I wrote the first one, so I post them  like "sisters" I feel like they belong together.

~Free of Me~

The only thing standing between me and this old pain-
is the only thing that keeps me from going completely insane.

The only thing standing between me and this familiar heartache-
is what lets me know-this loss is more than I can take.

The only thing standing between me and just simply letting go-
is what keeps me here...I'm stronger than even I know.

The only thing standing between me and finally being free-
is the one thing thats always stood in my way...
Its always been--Me.

Wonderful Janet.  It seems like you have a very deep desire to finally be free from the pain in your past and step into a happy and fulfilled future.   I am in the same place right now.   James

Dear James,
thank you for you kind words and encouragment.
I hope you find strength to heal in your writing. I have found that writing these emotions down and reading the words of others who know this pain, is the best "therapy" there is for the heart and soul. Being able to share them with people who understand makes the release even sweeter.
Take care, stay strong. Janet Marie
